Third Drop ❂ Voice / Action

[The voice you hear over the journals is quiet, and slow.. Quiet enough that it almost sounds like he doesn't want to be heard, and slow enough that it sounds like he doen't even want an answer. But, curious enough that he wants answers.]

I have...two questions...

...How do people make friends? A-and how does someone not scare people away if they are just telling the truth?

[Once that is done and over with, Crona places his journal facing away from him. He's not sure if he wants the answers. But for the first time, he can be seen sitting in plain view of anybody out near the middle of the village. It's taken him quiet a while to stop hiding from anything that moves, and he doesn't like being completely alone anymore.

But that doesn't stop him from drawing circles on the ground with a stick. One around him, one around the journal, then other small ones because he has nothing better to do. No actual drawings come out of this, but he is pleased with himself.]

What are your hobbies, if you don't mind me asking?

Would you like to try one of mine?

[Konan turns the video option on, and presents a sheet of paper. Fingers moving nimbly, she quickly transforms it into a paper rose.]

Origami - it takes some practice, but it can be relaxing once you're used to it.

It's easier than it looks - just folds in paper. Making paper cranes is much simpler, though.

[This time, she lets her hands work more slowly, crafting a crane.]

See? I could teach you, if you wanted to try it. Or you could try attending the Art Club meetings. Rapunzel and Ikki are very friendly and everyone with an interest in art is welcome.

I wouldn't mind teaching you. I would recommend the Art Club, though. It's a good place to make friends.

Perhaps I can introduce you to just Rapunzel or Ikki at first, then. Ikki is a little girl, and Rapunzel is a teenage girl with extremely long blonde hair who loves art - especially painting.

As for not scaring people away with the truth...sometimes it's best to keep some truths to yourself until you know a person well enough to trust they won't be frightened.

You can trust the person with a less important secret to start with and see if they ever tell anyone. Or if the person shares some of their secrets with you, you may be able to tell them the truth, then.

It isn't easy, but you would be able to tell, for example, if someone mentioned it on these journals when it was supposed to be your secret.

[She pauses. They haven't introduced themselves yet, have they?]

My name is Konan, by the way.

Then it's harder for you to tell. It's best to trust your instincts. Sometimes you can tell if someone is trustworthy or not without realizing why.

People can be confusing and unpredictable at times. Understanding them comes from experience and observation. Pay attention to contradictions between what a person says and what they actually do. Most people lie about their feelings at some point - a person might claim to be fine when they're actually hurt, sick or upset, for example. An untrustworthy person's actions will contradict what they say much more often than a normal person's.

It's something that comes with time and experience. It might be best to just start with discovering new hobbies and meeting people who share those hobbies.

Observe what other people seem to enjoy doing, and try it for yourself. What I like to do might be different than what you like to do.

Watch and ask questions. And if you find something that interests you, try it for yourself. Those are the best ways to learn.
